About

We started Velocity Labs to give honest answers.

Two operators who'd both been burned by AI hype, working out of Utah. We watch the space, we sit with real teams, and we tell the truth — even when it costs us a sale.

Our story

Built for the people nobody else respects enough to be honest with.

Velocity Labs started in early 2024. The trigger was a single bad day — a friend who runs a small accounting firm called, furious. She'd just spent $42,000 on an "AI for accountants" platform that, six months later, her team had logged into exactly twice.

Two weeks after that, a plumbing shop owner we knew bought another "AI" tool — a chatbot — and abandoned it inside ten days. Same story, different invoice.

The pattern was painfully obvious: vendors selling AI to people who didn't have time to figure out whether they needed it. No advisor in the middle. No honest read. No one doing the math out loud.

So we set up shop. We don't take kickbacks from AI vendors. We don't sell software unless we'd buy it ourselves. We don't build custom tools unless off-the-shelf truly won't fit. Most of our clients hire us once, learn what they need, and run with it. Some keep us on retainer for the quarterly heads-up as the space changes.

That's the whole pitch. Honest math, plain English, real phone numbers. If that sounds like what you need, the call is free.

Who you'll talk to

Two of us. Real phone numbers.

D
Dane Brooks
Co-founder. Audits & strategy.

Spent eight years as ops lead at a regional services company in Boise — saw four 'AI transformations' fail before the fifth one (a $90/month tool, not a $90,000 build) actually worked. Started Velocity Labs to do the math out loud.

Grew up changing oil at his uncle's shop.

A
Allie Chen
Co-founder. Training & rollout.

Former CPA turned ops nerd. Spent years teaching herself the AI tools her firm was paying for — then realized nobody else on her team was using them either. Now she does that part full-time, in plain English.

Will out-debate you on the Oxford comma.

How we work

Four rules we don't break.

01

Honest math.

Tools cost money, training costs time. We do the ROI math out loud — and walk you through it ourselves.

02

No vendor kickbacks.

We take zero referral fees from AI vendors. The recommendation we give is the one we'd give our own family.

03

Plain English, always.

If a sentence needs a glossary, we rewrite the sentence. If you don't understand something, that's on us.

04

Local first.

We start in Utah. On-site if we can, remote if you're farther. Either way, you get our cell numbers.

Where we work

Based in Utah. On-site when we can be.

Most of our clients are in Utah — Salt Lake, Provo, Ogden, Park City. We drive to you for audits and training when we can. For clients in Idaho, Nevada, and Arizona, we run remote sessions over Zoom. Quality's the same either way.
